Replace or augment solar charger

Ahoy

I have had this solar charger to keep my batteries up for 23 years. It works great.

Now I have a new motor that can charge the battery. It's an outboard, the charge comes from a coil on the flywheel, so it's probably spikey.
Can I use this a my charge controller or shall I find one with separate inputs for the solar cell and the motor?

Thanks

Re: Replace or augment solar charger

Keep them separate, better find a controller for the outboard. Your solar works, do not fiddle with it

Re: Replace or augment solar charger

The mercury Sail drive is an alternator. I suppose it has its own voltage regulator. So I guess I can just hook it directly to the battery Iand Solar continues to go through the charge controller to the battery

I hooked the sail drive directly across the battery.
While motoring in the Texas 200 the battery voltage was 13.5 volts. We kept three cell phones fully charged on the trip.
