Re: Sealed, Gel or Flooded Battery

The table showing the voltages seems to be from an Epever solar regulator. One of the reasons to limit the voltages when recharging flooded batteries is to limit the production of gases escaping the battery. If your battery is installed in a enclosed, non ventilated space it may prove dangerous if gases accumulates in this space as they are highly explosive.

This is why it is important to limit the charging voltage of batteries that realese gas when being charged.

For the above reason I am using AGM batteries on board my boat.

Re: Sealed, Gel or Flooded Battery

No with FLA the "boiling" is an essential part of getting to 100% Full as required for longevity.

As long as you ventilate no danger, but if you don't like the smell, some are more sensitive than others, then seal up the box and vent to outdoors.

Or decide to pay more for AGM and replace more frequently, perfectly valid reason to do so.
