Single battery and charger

What might be the best single battery system and charger. ive been looking at a lithium battery as it seems like the lifespan offsets the annual cost and they take a little bit more abuse with charging........ Is it worth it or should I just buy a a regular single battery.

Any recommendations about brand/model?

I don't want to have to micro manage the charging a lot.

For what usage? Engine start only? Fourteen fridges? Or...?

Re: Single battery and charger

It's a house battery. Boat has an outboard. Just need it for lights, vhf, stereo, instruments and a few other things.

Re: Single battery and charger

I would get a Trojan T-1275. 150Ahr capacity. Need to cater it every 4-6mo.

Charging would depend on use.
If you go day sailing every weekend, get a PWM controller and a 30-50W panel to throw on deck for the week. I have a 30W panel and use electric propulsion but every weekend the battery is full again.

If you are cruising for a week at a time then you want an MPPT controller and 150W or so of panels.

If you want continuous service (eg liveaboard) then you want 200-300W of panels and an MPPT controller for each panel. Probably you want to think about another battery.
