I strongly recommend to stick with the rating of the box. 80A means suitable for alternators up to 80 Amps. Frying the unit with a bigger alternator is - understandably - not covered by warranty.

Yes. I pointed that out to the owner but she decided to leave it as it was. The installation was done for her in a Greek boatyard.

As far as I know the owner is still alive.

I think what everyone is forgetting is the fact that if the alternator is not correctly sized for the battery bank no amount of regulator tweaking will work, the alternator will be overloaded. You can't get blood from a stone..
