Sterling Pro and engine belt wear

Hi all,

does the Sterling Pro Alternator To Batter Charger cause the belts to wear faster than usual?

Thanks!

Re: Sterling Pro and engine belt wear

Depends how the bank and the stock alt/VR setup would behave without it.

With a high-CAR LFP bank, if it's enabling charging to remain constant, while without it the load was being throttled off and on from the Alt overheating

or if it simply reducing the load on the alt,

then less wear with the Sterling.

Bottom line is it gives control over the load.

But with a lead bank that wasn't stressing the alt being current limited anyway, no difference, just getting a better Voltage setpoint
