Victron early float

I have 3victron mppt controllers controlling 3 panels , at the end of the day my monitor says that I have room to charge about 30 amp hours but the controllers have all kicked to float . I have tilting pannels and there is lots of sun left. If I reboot the controllers they put out a good deal of current then some bounce back to float back to float leaving me with a 5% deficiency in the charge cycle .
As I write 1 panel is 0 watts on float and the other is 241 on absorption, they are right beside each other .

I read earlier this year and can’t remember where, that changing a setting in the tail voltage/amperage settings could eliminate some of this issue.
I did search but found nothing

Re: Victron early float

Are you SURE your monitor is properly synched to 100%? When was the last time that happened?
How big is your battery bank?
When you say you have one panel pushing 241W, what voltage is happening at?
What is your absorption voltage setting?

Re: Victron early float

Either the SOC meter isn't setup correctly and/or hasn't synced recently, or the Victron MPPT controllers are not setup properly. If all you did was install them with default programs, then it would be expected they wouldn't correspond with each other.

Also, Victron MPPT controllers can and should be setup to communication with each other, so they all change stages at the same time. Yours apparently are not.
Below discusses how to setup an SOC meter.

Re: Victron early float

The best method for determining whether the solar controllers should be dropping to float is to look at the tail current.

This is the current entering the batteries. When the batteries are at the absorption voltage the tail current should be around 1-2% of the battery capacity. So for a 400 AHr battery bank the controllers should be dropping to float when the batteries (@ absorption voltage) are only accepting 4-8A.

If they are accepting more than this, the controller is dropping to float prematurely.

If this is happening, the best first step is to increase the absorption time:

Click the “wheel” icon in the top right corner.
Select “Battery”.
Select “Expert mode”
Increase the “Absorption duration”

What type/model mppt controllers?

What type/model batteries?

Re: Victron early float

if the controllers are bluetooth you want to create a bluetooth network so they talk to each other. also join to the BVM if it's a victron with bluetooth.
