Will the new Yanmar Serpentine Belt Setup Work on my 4JH4E?

Hello all -

I have two new alternators that I need to put on my engines (one alternator each). I have 2006 Yanmar 4JH4E with the standard alternator on them. I was going to buy the Balmar serpentine 1" upgrade but it doesn't have that cool new auto tensioner. Will the new Yanmar setup work with mine or is there a better solution?

Here is what I was looking at from Balmar:

AltMount Pulley Kit: 48-YSP-4JH-F

Thanks all! _steve

Re: Will the new Yanmar Serpentine Belt Setup Work on my 4JH4E?

I have a 120A Balmar on the original pulley system and it is slipping.

I also would like to know if I can change the pulleys on my 4JH4E to the newer ones and the serpentine belts. Any Yanmar engine experts out there?

Andy

I've only seen the spring loaded idler on automobiles, but if it helps it seems that after the initial wear in that will happen very quickly if at all, mine hasn't needed any adjustment, from what I can tell it seems this is due to no wear occurring. It seems a Serpentine belt will last a very, very long time. I have a couple of years and a couple hundred hours on mine and have not adjusted it.
You can also run it looser without any slippage than you can with a V belt, I didn't like how tight I had to keep a V belt with just my stock 80 Amp Alt. I run my serpentine a little looser with a 125 Amp and no slippage.
