will Xantrex 3000 run on 50hz

Hi all, we are in Northern Japan, getting ready to lay up boat for the winter

We rarely plug in to dock power but would like to have a charger going for the batts over the winter while away

We have a Xantrex Freedom 3000 inv/charger that is about 7 years old. The dock power here is 100v, a 30 amp service and 50 HZ. When I connect the Xantrex shows qualifying AC at 106v 50 HZ but the charger will not activate.

And the subpanel with the other AC outlets, which may get it power via the Xantrex does not light up

So.... any thoughts? I see nothing in the manual about an option to change from 60 to 50 HZ

cheers

Re: will Xantrex 3000 run on 50hz

By the tech docs, the short answer is no, this unit must have 60Hz +/-.

Re: will Xantrex 3000 run on 50hz

thanks I have read that as well. Finally got some intel from Xantrex in Vancouver, BC.
He suggested changing the Low Hz cutoff to below 50 I tried this and now it seems to be charging normally.

Any sense that this could be a bad idea?
