Wind Gen plus Solar panel ... connection?

We have been using an 18w solar panel with charge controller on Brigadoon. A good friend just gave us a nice Rutland 913 wind generator and HRS913 controller. ...... Question: how do we hook them up together? I assume only one controller is needed. The panel is supposed to already have a diode built-in to stop back current. Do we just put the wind gen. in parallel with panel? Does the wind gen. need a diode as well?Or, should be use both controllers in parallel? It's a bit confusing.

Thanks,
Skip

I think this may help you a bit Solar and wind regulators / charge controllers

And this page covers what your talking about at some length the Otherpower.com Discussion Board || Wind+Solar charge controller question
Though it seems the cheaper and easier option to have a separate regulator for wind and solar...

Hi,
We connect our solar panels thru their regulator to the batteries and our wind generator with its built-in regulator, separately and also directly to the batteries: it's simple and works great. In your case, I would do the same, connect each source, without diodes, directly to the battery bank thru its own regulator.

Cheers

Thumbs up Solar plus Wind

Thanks for the replies. Possibly the problem is not so difficult after all.

Put a breaker on the solar and wind input, so when you turn off the electric panel to work on some thing you can keep the solar and wid from from charging the system while you have a finger in it. Just a thought
