Winter Storage and Batteries

Penelope will be in storage for the next 6 months.

Can I simply remove the centre wire from my splitter (box in engine room) and connect the solar charge output to that terminal ?

In the past I have connected the solars to the house batteries but I guess that does nothing for the start battery ?
