Wiring 30-amp plug for shore power

I am between a rock and a hard place. My generator has given up the ghost and I need to be able to run my AC water maker. My plan is to us a portable generator - the loads are fine so long as I only run the water maker or the battery charger at one time. I have been searching through the internet trying to find how I make a 30 to 50-amp adapter. (30-amp outlet on the generator; 50-amp shore power receptacle). Lots of RV stuff out there. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Are you in the USA?

A 50 amp plug in the USA is for 240-volt service, you can't connect that to a 120-volt generator.

We need more info to help, like what boat, how is it wired....

Re: Wiring 30-amp plug for shore power

So far both answers you have are wrong, and show a lack of knowledge about what a 50A 120/240V service connection is about.

There is no simple adapter to feed a single phase 120v 30 amp feed into a 50A split phase system. It is not possible. If you do not understand what a spit phase power system is, then kludging up a workable solution is going to be tough.

Is your watermaker pump 120V or 240V? Could be either. You can make it work if it is 120v, you are out of luck if it is 240v.

Yes, the operative issue is whether everything you want to run is 120 VAC or if there are any 240 VAC items.

If all 120 VAC, your adapter will have a male 30 amp with its single hot (call it L1) connected to both hots on the 50 amp end of the adapter.

It will supply 120 VAC to anything running on either leg of the 50 amp panel ASSUMING again that you don't need 240 VAC since it is not available.

Answered OP question about availability. Yes adapter plug does exist. Made no other assertion.
