Wiring design for 2 engines, 3 batteries, no genset

Electrical Diagrams or Electrician wanted.

I have a new Gemini Legacy 35 catamaran. I ordered it without the optional genset because I plan to upgrade electric system to be able to run A/C (all night) by equipping one drive engine with a High Output Alternator.

Will also of course, require an inverter/charger with "power assist" feature to handle A/C motor start loads. Example:.

Seems this would be a common requirement - faced by quite a few people. Certainly a trend.

Yet I cannot find an off-the-shelf wiring diagram design that puts the right pieces together.

Please: WHERE CAN I FIND THE WIRING DESIGN ?

I'd even be willing to pay for a professionally designed wiring/components plan.

  1. Start Battery(port)
  2. Start Battery (Stbd)
  3. House Battery (Lithium)
  4. Shore Power #1 (to inverter)
  5. Shore Power #2 (to A/C only)
  6. 150w Solar Panel
  7. Standard Alternator (38A) port engine
  8. High Output Alternator (???A) stbd engine (Both engines are 15hp Yanmar 2MY15 diesels.)
  9. 3000w Inverter/charger
  10. Two A/C Units each 10k btu
  11. 12v breaker panel
  12. 110vac breaker panel (house only)
  13. 110vac breaker panel (A/C only)

Assume HO alternator will take most of available HP from stbd engine. Thats ok.
Assume I can run diesel/alternator in neutral for long periods without problems.

This is where it all falls apart.

Most will say "Get a generator to run your A/C, not one of your propulsion engines."

Good luck.

Good luck.
It fell apart before that.
Hire an ABYC Certified Marine Electrician and a qualified diesel mechanic to tell you why you can't do that without a generator on that boat (unless it's a dock queen). It would take far too many posts here to tell you.

How about a hybrid type approach. A fast charging lithium battery bank. Engine kicks on automatically then shuts off when charge starts to taper off, thus giving the 2 cyl engine a good load. The engine would run in 10-15 minute pulses as needed. Save a ton of diesel. It does go against conventional wisdom but that doesn't stop everyone. No one believed in household refrigerators on here a few years ago and now people are installing them left and right.

Now that is interesting. Out of box thinking?

This would require an electric-start generator/inverter and some kind of control unit to start and stop it in response to battery readings. I've not seen anything like that however auto-start-on-demand is the way backup gensets work, so I assume there is something out therel
