When you wire LED strips “in series” you are actually wiring them in parallel. Only 3 LEDs are wired in series and every group of 3 is wired in parallel (reason you can cut them at points every 3 LEDs.

I would use 18 gauge 2-conductor wire and directly solder it to the strip contacts, eliminating whatever the factory put on. Also, I would wire them “in series” with same soldered 18 gauge 2-conductor to eliminate failure points.

Last: power consumption of LED strips differs and is most often given per meter or per 5 meters. Do the math to get to the power consumption of the length you have.
