Xantex Freedom 1000 Bank Size

I am not finding this info anywhere in my owners manual but I am curious if there is a limit to the size of battery bank that I can hook this thing too. Right now we just have a 240 Ah bank of T-105's and a starter battery. It takes about an hour to charge them...I think. I am thinking of doubling the bank but don't want to screw it all up. I also have a 100 watt solar bank and 60 amp alternator.

On a side note I am wondering if it is okay to use a different brand of battery to expand my bank (I can get the sweet Sam's Club discount). In Allen Wheeler's very nice tutorial he says it is okay to mix batteries of varying ages provided you have a "good" battery charger...not quite sure what that means, ie if he is just talking about a 3 stage charger or what.
