Didn’t happen. Dissipated north of the Aleutians. The 950 low currently in the gulf was a result of a few weaker lows being spun off the 920 and the weakened system.

Looks now like that 950 will stay in the upper gulf. The 50knt winds off the west coast are a far cry from the 100knt they were supposed to see in the Bearing sea last week as a result of that historic 920 low. The 920 stayed where us was and blew itself out, the weakened low combined with two other weak lows to form the new 950 system. Looks more like a typical winter storm that will see some high southerly winds being fed from the high off the coast of California. Not the massive offshore ‘weather bomb’ people were predicting. As the southern high dissipates (weak to begin with) it will help drive the jet stream north and help corral the 950 low to the upper gulf coast.

Been here in Bella Bella on the boat and we haven't had anything more than we've been getting all fall, about twice a week. Most remarkable has been the steady march of these storms, and the absence of any cold snap so far.

Ya no cold up here either...so far. Tons of snow in the mountains already from a few major events. Central coast has been getting hit hard this winter with precipitation.

Re: Record low in the North Pacific - 921 mb

Ironically these storms are resulting in continuing Chinook conditions in Calgary. That is forecast for the foreseeable future.

Re: Record low in the North Pacific - 921 mb

Makes sense with the jet stream staying relatively flat recently and pushing all that warm air inland. It’s when it humps way up into Alaska and the Yukon that it causes arctic air to drop down to the prairies and southern states. Mid next week is setting up for some wet weather on Van island/WA/OR. I do hope this trend doesn’t continue as it may mean a few months of frigid cold (up north) followed by late spring into summer storms for the North Pacific and panhandle. See how it plays out I guess.
