St Martin boat purchase - Hurricane season

Good day all,

Looking for info and opinions on purchasing a catamaran in St martin this first week of June.
The plan would be to provision and head south for cover before any threat of rough weather coming in.
Is it doable and is it safe this time of year? We are a family of 5 looking to spend a season or two in the Caribbean. I would look to find crew for the passage down to Grenada. Clearly a good weather window will need to materialize.
My concern is the threat of bad weather and getting caught there while surveying the boat and sea trials etc.
