Tortola BVI hit with 206 MPH wind gusts

Tortola BVI hit with 206 MPH wind gusts.

Hurricane Irma hit them REAL HARD.

Boats sunk and de-masted in the MOORINGS Marina.

A favorite Hurricane hole in Paraquita Bay Tortola BVI has boats sunk and stacked.

Look at all the flipped over catamarans. That's just surreal. It must have been apocalyptic.

I never get that charter logic but anyway, the 80% of the dream yacht charter fleet in sxm is scrap junk right now, including several brand new Catanas, they leave the boats tied to the floating docks in a spider way fashion...

Typical takeoff speed for a 800000lb 747 is around 180mph. If you saw a catamaran heading down the runway at those speeds, you'd expect it to rotate and flip long before that point.

Still - shocking to see, I wonder if they removed the 'trampolines' beforehand?

Just show ya. For a normal hurricane you don't have to remove sail-bag & sail from boom.

Not to sound callous but it seems like they decided to "sell" the fleet to the insurance companies if that's the extent of their preparations the day before the storm hit.

Re: Tortola BVI hit with 206 MPH wind gusts

FYI,

The "normal" cyclone in Australia isn't a hurricane. Atlantic hurricanes tend to be bigger storms, and with the population density in America, far more destructive.

Good hopes going out to all those affected. Water and rations and medical attention first. Setting broken limbs, etc.
