Tracking storms while at sea

With all the changes in technology I have what I thought would be a simple question.

Having tossed out my SSB (couldn't get it to work no matter what I tried) I wonder how you all can track gales/storms/hurricanes while at sea. In order to try and duck a storm you have to know at least three things, current position, direction it's traveling in, and speed.

Using modern devices it shoud be easy but I'm not sure how to prepare myself for a long trip. What do you use in this modern age of Sat Phones, InReach, SPOT, IPad's etc?
