US coasts sea level rise 10 to 12 inches by 2050

An interagency report, led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, shows how scientists are increasingly confident that US coasts will see another 10 to 12 inches of sea level rise by 2050.

2022 Sea Level Rise Technical Report
Updated projections available through 2150 for all U.S. coastal waters.

The implications of that forecast are enormous.

Sea level will rise as much in the next 30 years as it did in the past 100 -- increasing the frequency of high-tide flooding, pushing storm surge to the extreme and inundating vulnerable coastal infrastructure with saltwater.

. . .

if global warming can be held to around 2 degrees above pre-industrial levels, NOAA estimates sea level rise in the US could be limited to 2 feet by the end of the century.
If temperatures are allowed to skyrocket, that forecast increases to 7 feet.

The last time they produced a predication report in 2017, it turned out to be grossly exaggerated. Each and every prediction, including this one, is based on a set of assumptions. None of which are verifiable in advance. But that won’t stop the paranoia.

Re: US coasts sea level rise 10 to 12 inches by 2050

Back in the 1980's there was a report on TV, I think it was CBS, about a Global Warming computer model that said the food baskets of the world, US, Canada, Ukraine, parts of Asia, etc., where going to turn into deserts due to Global Warming, food production would fail and there would be mass, world wide starvation. The "scientists" were going on and on about the model and it's predictions.

The reporter actually asked an intelligent question which was does your model show climate conditions of today if you enter today's data? The answer was no, along with a duh look from the "scientists."

The model predicted that by 2000, the food producing areas of the world would be deserts and there would be mass starvation around the world...

Australian Senator, Gerard Rennick accuses BOM of fiddling the figures to fit the global warming model.

Looks like the same prognosticators are now working with Covid stats.

So, trying to make lemonade out of lemons, maybe I'll be running aground a little less frequently!

Does that mean Florida sailors will be able to start buying 9' draft Swans? Or at least 7' ones.

Yes, maybe, but also consider the effect of increased erosion reshaping waterways.

NOAA says sea levels in the past 100 years along US east coast were 5 3/4 inches--according to US Coast and Geodetic Survey data. This is from 1919 to 2019. Doesnt fit your "narrative".

I agree! Could use just a couple inches more to get to my dock at low tide periods.
