Re: What do you wear?

Can’t wear wool against my skin. Synthetics smell. Hence I end up with cotton

Synthetics smell? What synthetics are you wearing? I can wear my synthetic thermals for 2 or 3 days and they don't smell, well not enough to make people complain in the pub after a few days on the water anyway.

If you can't wear wool for various dermatological reasons then wear silk, it's almost as good as wool and lighter weight too.

I'd rather be a bit wiffy and warm than potentially hypothermic in damp cotton.

Strange as I've worn my Helly's for a week without a whiff.

Try a good camping/outdoor shop. They should have a good selection of performance garments from Merino to Silk to performance fabrics such as Coolmax, IsoCool and other brands.

Suggest avoiding polyester but looking for polypropylene based fibres

Re: What do you wear?

Many outdoor sport supply stores carry long silk underwear. I have a set I found at REI for instance.
