Where to find good storm surge data?

Hi folks, having witnessed a surprisingly high storm surge this morning in New England, I was wondering if there was anywhere to get actual data on the surge height we experienced in various places.

The NOAA buoys don't seem to measure (or at least, report) realtime water depth.

TV weathermen will give a single number in their prediction but the variation in surge is dramatic depending on where you are. And they don't ever seem to go back and report what actually happened.

The NWS's SLOSH model is impressive, worth a look if you are a coastal dweller curious about storm surges, but I'm looking for actual measured data from, for example, today's storm.

Down here where I live, the USGS maintains electronic tide gauges on several inland waterways. You can access historical and real-time readings on the internet. Surely they do the same thing up north.
