Re: Block Island to Maine

If the timing is bad for the CCC in the early morning we often go thru the night before when the tide is good and take a quick left at the end of the canal and anchor off of the beach there - weather permitting of course.

Have a great cruise. Looking forward to your updates. Coastal Maine is cruising heaven.

By the way, as CarlF stated (post 12), Monhegan Island (10 miles out, midcoast) is great, and yup!, it can get rolling out there. I was outside Monhegan one afternoon in 20-foot swells and true "pea soup" fog (like I stated in my first post ... see attached photo). Visibility was 3 meters. Just the way it can often get 10 miles out. Welcome to Maine. Make sure your radar is warm and happy! Also, Port Clyde is worth visiting, and Rockland is OK. Camden, a little further north, is super pretty. Gee, how would I know any of this?

Have fun!

Re: Block Island to Maine

Again, and just for your awareness. Can the coast of Maine get foggy? Oh yeah!!
And very quickly. Anyway, good radar is your pal. "aheyuh!" It can get so foggy that you can be kissing the rocks far before you EVER see them.

Two videos. Marshall Point (Port Clyde), and Portland Head
