Re: ICW Currents Titusville -> Ponce Inlet -> Palm Coast -> Saint Augustine

So if you're going from Titusville, you'll turn at Ponce De Leon cut and never go near Ponce Inlet at all. Just stay on the intracoastal the whole way.

Re: ICW Currents Titusville -> Ponce Inlet -> Palm Coast -> Saint Augustine

As said above, the mention of 5 kn currents refer to cuts between large bodies of water at worst state of tides. I remember going south into the cut to the Cape Fear River and having the distinct impression of going downhill! Windage of the rig combined with having to stay in the channel combined with a 16 hp engine meant very slow SOG no matter what the tide flow was on occasions. Skipper Bobs Guide book was money well spent. Finding a safe anchorage for the night was not easy on occasions. I loved cruising the ICW and meeting Americans along the way.

Re: ICW Currents Titusville -> Ponce Inlet -> Palm Coast -> Saint Augustine

Having just done the Atlantic coast of Florida from Ft. Lauderdale to the Georgia border aboard a monohull drawing 7', we had no problem with the bigger inlets with marked channels. Some of the smaller inlets can be choppy when the wind opposes the tidal current.

The only place we saw anything near 5 knots was at St. Augustine during peak ebb or flow tide, and in particular inside the Municipal Marina. If you plan to dock there, I strongly recommend doing so at slack tide.
