Yes, Yamba is a cool little town, D&D! Its only drawback is the lack of islands off the coast. We might go exploring up the river later this year though.

Hey D&D - I am just sending a little bit of wind and rain down your way now.

Its been pretty wild here, but no damage to speak of at Manly Boat Harbour. Not as good news in Bundy, I just saw footage of a Lightwave 38 scooting down the river - very sad. Still they are a well built tough boat, so hopefully the owners will get it back.

D & D, I'll convert that for our US friends that don't live in the metric world.

7 inches of rain in 48 hours !!!

What was that about Melbourne weather? We have rain forecast for only the next 7 days and its the middle of summer but I like to think of it as being like Florida where in some places it appears to rain every day :-)

Really? ...and here we thought the Solitary Islands were well renown stopovers (and well set up with National Parks moorings!) for birdlife, diving and plain old getting well-and-truly away from civilisation!? Admittedly, the Solitaries are open roadstead so nothing like the Whitsundays...

Thanks for the weather Andrew...current gusts to 57kn at Cape Byron and 38kn at Ballina. We hope, as we are being belted, everything's settling down a bit up your way?

Fair enough...no cyclones/hurricanes/TRS in Melbourne, although none here either as we're below the TRS zone. Still and as we are experiencing now, we (and virtually the entire OZ east coast) very much feel the TRS leftovers...

Too bloody cold in winter for me. With multiple winter nights at and around zero degrees celcius and a "nice" winters day of 14 degrees. Its way to Brrrrr for me. I would not want to be a liveaboarder in melb. Summer racing sure. But thats all.

I'm talking about ANY nasties. Because, you see, we have none here. That's the standard. None.

Which makes it considerably more "livable" in my book.
Which paradise do you live in,

Beneteau, where are you from in Gippy? I started in Alberton near Yarram, moved to Longford near Sale, spent lots of time on the Gippsland Lakes including the Marlay Point Overnight Race in our original trailer sailer but then moved to Melbourne. The Mrs is from Lang Lang so I know the area well!

Alberton? Was born in yallourn...long ago. spent most of my early years in and around Melbourne. Moved back to a little town called Blackwarry near Yarram in the early 80s for a year or two then up around marysville. Couldn't live in a city but if I had to Melbourne would be it.
