Most affordable charter destinations?

I'm not a guy who charters sailboats. I know next to nothing about it. It always seems like something that only doctors and lawyers can afford.

Are there places you can go and charter a boat for a family for like, less than 5k a week? Less than 3k a week? Are any of those places even worth going to?

I am looking to get the hell out of New England this winter. HELP

Re: Most affordable charter destinations?

Once upon a time long ago.

Not kept with current rates. I am not knowing.

Trends have changed, I used to Charter smaller older mono hulls from a local company at reasonable rates.
If you want to head for warm climates. The bigger companies have bigger boats and higher Prices for relatively new boats.
At one time the Med had flotilla charters on <30ft boats for reasonable prices. But people seam to want bigger and more luxury.
There used to be 2nd tier charter companies renting older boats not sure of any names or prices.

So it depends very much what you want. you will also get a better deal of season. Rather than peak season.

As for current rates?

Visailing.com. Very helpful and are paid by the charter company. (No, you don’t get a different price by going direct to the charter company, and no, I have no financial interest in the company - just a happy customer).

Hi Ben, I'm a charter broker, and the short answer is yes, you can get a 2018 35ft sailing boat for between $3-4k a week in November/February in the BVI. There isn't a huge amount of availability looking across the market, but my advice is if you can be flexible with dates and try to go for shoulder season, you will be able to find something that works! Happy to help if you want?
