West to East

Hi, I would like to go from UK to Thailand West to East.
Leaving from Falmouth, through the Med and down the Red Sea.
After researching I see there is a window when the wind changes from East to West to West to East , and the risk of a Typhoon at this time is minimal.
I have found there is lots of literature from the Falmouth to the bottom of the Red Sea with Imray Pilots but not much on the Indian Ocean going East.
Can anybody out there recommend any literature on a West to East passage.
I would also like to hear from anybody that's has done it.

If you want to make this route, you have one problem bigger than the wind direction: piracy..

Cheers

I know about the Pirate threat, also there is a Civil War in Yemen at the moment.
There are people on here who are Crusing The Gulf of Aiden at the moment and say it is fine.
There hasn't been anything taken by the Pirates for a few years now, there is always a risk, Pirates, Storms, Sysrems failure etc..
I do not want to do the Atlantic, Pacific route to get there.
At the time of year I plan to do this the Pirate threat is at its lowest, according to the information I have read.

For the Indian Ocean you ideally need to cross in winter with the NE Monsoon winds.. it goes SE round March/April and conditions deteriorate each month after.. come out of the Red Sea and you've almost a beam reach to Bombay/Goa.. anywhere N of that's hassle.
The traditional Arab passages from Africa to India went back and forth in winters.. the dhows still do but now they've big engines for those calms..

A beam reach all the way sounds perfect to me. 😀

Yep.. an HT's best point of sail, downwind a close second..
Carry plenty of fuel.. or something to keep you amused in the calms..
