Yacht transport services

G'day
I am inquiring if anybody has transported a yacht from Australia to USA?
I am looking at loading in Brisbane in Match 2017 and arriving in Palm Beach , Florida a few weeks later.

The plans is to spend some time cruising around the USA waters b fore heading into the Caribbean then home via the coconut route across the pacific

Any advice on arriving in the states, marinas in Palm Beach that you can recommend for a 38 ft sloop.

Places to visit, any government requirements, etc.

As my yacht is wired for 12 volt and 240 volt, USA voltage is 110, what is the standard plug required at marinas, and I am sure yachts visiting Australia have a similar issue may have a few ideas.

Any input would be appreciated

Fair winds to all

Re: Yacht transport services

If your yacht is set up to be independent electrically, then don't worry about it, just use your solar panels, wind generator, or engine for charging, and run your tools, etc. off your inverter.

We used to carry a transformer to step-down from your Oz power for running power tools, but basically just life off what we routinely generate.

All this is assuming you can actually put your boat on a ship in Brisbane and ship to FL, which I sorta doubt. Dockwise used to do it, but hasn't for ages.

Re: Yacht transport services

Hi Ann and Jim,

Thanks for the info, I have a large enough inverter on board , and battery storage capacity, etc. so be able to live with that , I was mainly after battery charges and tools etc.

Seven star yacht transport has 2 trips in 2017 January and March, I am thinking about the March voyage but working out logisitics and requirements for a hassle free arrival.

Appreciate the advice
Cheers

There are often some backwater moorage available behind peoples houses. Maybe search out and talk with Stan Dabney or someone like that for moorage info. How long for moorage? http://www.offshoreyachts.com/AboutUs.htm

Re: Yacht transport services

Hi Cheechako
Thanks for the link, I will explore further.
I am thinking around 3 months getting ready after arrival, weather dependent.

I am also thinking about the exploring North East coast USA by land prior to heading south by sea.

Cheers

Depends on your LOA, BEAM, HEIGHT, AND DISPLACEMENT.
They have a office in Sydney, or forms on their web site.
