Re: Leopard 40 Davits Capacity?

mate i to am looking at davit limits. i am about the fishing so ide like to hold onto my 11 ft sea jay nomad approx 90 kgs with a kapten collar fitted. perfect for those croc creeks and also zipping around the island reefs. but i am concerned about davit strengths. i find when i ask sellers about there limits most dont know, as they are about the sailing and just getting to shore unlike me.

Re: Leopard 40 Davits Capacity?

gonna say ime thinking of one of those 300kg lifting cranes/ arms that fold away to nothing on the deck. i could then store my 100 kg tinnie midships instead of on the stern.

Re: Leopard 40 Davits Capacity?

The original 40, 43, and 46 had severe davit issues, to the extent that the Moorings insisted on dinghies being towed. They were eventually re-designed as something much stronger and R&C sent a team to Tortola to refit the fleet. I would be very wary if my davits were the original design;I don't know the capacities of the re-design but I think they worked out OK. Surely R&C could advise.

They did just that on the 5800 and are a bitch to use in rough conditions, as you could imagine.
