1978 Mariner 28

Henderson harbor NY

We’re moving up this year and sadly I need to let our beloved Mariner go. We bought her 5 years ago with the intention of totally refurbishing her, and then we discovered how much fun she is to sail, and well we spent more time sailing then working on her. Important stuff got fixed but you don’t need new deck paint to sail so that didn’t happen. Otherwise a very solid boat built when they didn’t skimp on the fiberglass. You won’t find a more solid hull to build your dream cruiser on.

Motor:
Yanmar YSM 12 single cylinder. Runs great, brand new starter installed last season but then not used since.
Racor water separator
15 gallon fuel tank.

Nice sail inventory
Main, jib, 125 genoa, 150 Genoa all hank on in good condition.

Bimini
Wheel steering
Depth sounder
Wind gauge (speed works, direction does not)
Knott meter
VHF
Whisker pole
2 anchors
New cockpit cushions
Cabin cushion foam in good shape but need re-covering
Wooden cradle
4 new opening front ports

More I can’t think of right now.

New front ports
Front hatch has a broken hinge but there’s a brand new hatch onboard ready to be installed

Current issues to get her sail able:

New starter was installed last year but it needs a ground cable hooked up to get it working. I’ll get the motor started for the buyer.

Needs a new throttle cable hooked up to the compression release lever. You can start the motor without this but it takes two people.

Bolt on the main sheet traveler snapped, needs to be replaced and installed. Easy.

Some of the interior plywood needs to be replaced due to top side leaks over the winter.

Foredeck was re-cored with epoxy and balsa but it needs a top layer of fiberglass cloth and epoxy and the the whole top sides need paint.

1978 Mariner 28

Opened the boat today and found there had been some top side leaks. The plywood under the v berth is wet, may need replacing. Plywood under and over the pilot berth definitely needs replacing. Overall she’s as described but the interior isn’t looking good and I need to move on so I’m lowering the price to $500 in hopes of getting a quick sale.

Many more current pictures available on request.
