Caliber 40' 2009 ($80,000 ONO)

A beautiful boat, but desperately in need of some tender, loving, care hence the very cheap price tag. In good condition she could fetch $200-250k. Asking $80k ONO. Almost everything is cosmetic and would be an absolute bargain for anyone looking for a Caliber project boat.

She is very, very well equipped and has an insulated hull (Armaflex) for the higher latitudes. She has never been aground, never been in a collision, never been hit by lightning and most of the work she needs is simply due to general neglect and wear and tear.

She is located in Portobelo in Panama.

Some of what she is equipped with: Yanmar 55hp engine with 970 hrs (in good shape and regularly run), Furuno chart plotter and radar, ARC AIS, Simrad autopilot, Hydrovane wind steering, just under 400W solar panels, Blue Sky IPN solar controller (needs to be replaced - about $160.-, but no further installation needed), Victron 3000 charger/inverter (remote control unit at nav station also needs to be replaced which is a small item), Spectra watermaker, hard dodger (fiberglass), Viking liferaft, Lofrans Tigres windlass and beside a Tigres manual for back-up, in-mast furler..... (could be changed with an outside track if not wanted). In addition she comes with a never used Parasailor spinacker and a Brownie Dive (air compressor with hose). Three Rocna anchors, two of them on the bow, one of them oversized. And more......

I mean no offense, but Did the boat ever sink?

I found the ad on sailboatlistings and the image of the galley. What’s up with that?

Seems like a great price for a great boat in need of a bit of work. I’m just curious if there was anything in particular that caused the floor there fade away?

Hi, of course she never sank. This doesn't seem to be a serious question. I am Chris, the owner of the Caliber 40 in Panama. She needs work all around and I need cash. That defines the situation. She has all the gadgets you would want (some of them need some parts replaced), but she needs some work before you make her your perfect home. She can be sailed to somewhere more suitable to do this work than Panama. To get her into provisional sailing shape doesn't take much work. I consider her sailing her to Florida where she has a wider market.

Yup yup. It was a serious question and you represented the vessel very well in the post.

That’s a very well priced vessel. Thank you for the reply.

As the owner of a 2002 sister ship, I’d call it more than “general neglect”. You should rename her “Black Mold”. Good luck.
