This is a Contessa 28 in the Netherlands on it's own cradle. Contessa's are still made after 50 years in the UK by Jeremy Rogers. They have been made famous over the years by surviving the tragic Fastnet Race in 1979 and rounding Cape Horn and several circumnavigations.All hulls are built to Lloyds specs and have a plate attached inside the cabin.The lead is encapsulated so it has no keelbolts to worry about.
The boat is kept in a private marina / club in Eindhoven Netherlands and the costs are 350 euros for the winter months when it is stored on it's own steel cradle from October to May. During the summer months it is 4 euros a day. You are able to work on the boat when it is on it's own cradle and electricity is free. Also has showers and free WiFi. The canals are fresh water so the boat looks less than its years. Also it is fully covered in the winter.
This is an ideal boat to cruise the canals with the mast down and then raise it to go sailing when closer to the coast. The mast has a tabernacle system that enables you to raise and lower at will quite easily. It does 5.7 knots at cruise using 1.1 litres of fuel an hour.We cruised her for 5 months last year. In the Netherlands there are many places to tie up alongside for no money and we never found a marina that did not welcome us. Overnight stays for a 9 metre boat vary from 7 to 12 euros for inland towns to about 20 euros on the Belgium coast. Weekly rates are less and monthly more so.
The engine is a Volvo MD2 18HP and was reconditioned a few years back. There are photos and receipts for this. It is able to be hand-started. 3 bladed left hand prop.
Has a near new main and genoa. 4 other sails including storm jib.
2015 2 burner stove with oven runs on butane which is easily available.
Sleeps 6 people. 2 doubles and 2 singles.

Sounder, gps,other vhf, clock, barometer, 2 compasses, radar reflector, flares, paper charts, small 12 volt fridge,cooking utensils, tools and spares, paints, 6 fenders, multiple dock lines, and most gear that you need to head off straight away.
