Sailing Free Spirit: Free Spirit For Sale

The Freedom 42/45 CC is renowned for their build quality, ease of handling and performance. The sloop rig is based on a freestanding carbon fiber mast together with self-tending jib and a real pleasure to sail. Ease of handling, all running rigging lead aft to the cockpit through stoppers to large winches so that sails can easily be handled by one person without leaving the cockpit, perfect for cruising couples. An electric-powered winch for the main halyard ensures that anyone aboard can hoist sail with ease. But what really makes "Free Spirit" shine is her speed while sailing in comfort, with all the amenities of home.
"Free Spirit" has a spacious salon, impressive aft cabin with centerline queen and amazing storage in beautiful cherry and teak. She is a proven, true, blue water cruiser with many custom upgrades, extra navigation and functional equipment (many new in 2016) that make for a very safe and comfortable cruiser/ live aboard.
"Free Spirit" also benefits from a superb hull and deck condition (no osmoses). This boat was designed by Gary Mull and the hull was built by the renowned Tillotson-Pearson Yard to USCG, NMMA, NFPA codes and offshore racing council safety regulations. The brilliance of this design is only really appreciated when single handed short tacking the boat without leaving the helm station. Sailors new to a Freedom need only tack up a narrow harbor entrance simply turning the wheel, while normal boats fight their way with much winching and grunting.
Free Spirit, hull #1 of the Freedom 45 series, without the sugar scoop transom, making her a 42, LOA 44feet 11 inches. She has been maintained and constantly upgraded.

Re: Freedom 45 CC

Very nice boat! I like that interior.

Very good detailed sale listing too.

I don't recall seeing this boat model discussed before, so I have added the Freedom 45 to the following discussion thread about
Sailboats with Free Standing Masts.

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2509810

I invite you to add some of your impressions about Owning and sailing this boat model, with any comments you want to make about the design or handling or the rig, etc. I have included a link to your ad here so I suggest just adding commentary on how the design sails, and other discussion would be fitting for that thread.

Re: Freedom 45 CC

Wow, a normal-sized bed. And electric winches, too. Sigh. Looks like a great boat!

Re: Freedom 45 CC

A freedom 45 was at the top of my short list, in fact considered looking at the one posted. Coming from a freedom I was very keen. In the end decided on something a little newer, I do miss the freedom rig, still don't understand why it isn't more popular.

Me too. The only complaint/comment I get from fellow sailors regarding the lack of standing rigging is "What do you hold on to when going forward?"

Re: Freedom 45 CC

What a stunning looking boat, and very well equipped to boot! I must admit that I know nothing about the free-standing mast concept. Thank you, Steady Hand, for pointing me to the long-established thread on the subject - some interesting reading right there!

Re: Freedom 45 CC

This is an impressive Boat with which I am smitten. The Admiral loves the cabin. Sadly, a bit drafty for our Gulf Coast, Florida home port. Steady, Thank you for the fascinating links.
