Halvorsen Freya 42 in Corten Steel

SOLD

NB: Having problems uploading photos here. Please have a look at Halvorsen Freya 42 - Home for lots of photos and videos.
This is a genuine High Latitude sailing vessel...purpose built for Antarctica by Halvorsen’s own Horst Diegnamm.
Keel Cooling, Oversized Aries Windvane, AP4 Hydraulic Autopilot, Heavy gearing, Lister Petter 33HP with Borg Warner 2.1.1 reduction gearbox. Long range tanks...Diesel 1640 litres. Water 1000 litres.
Warm and comfortable interior with Perkins Diesel heater, Gas, H/C water, shower, and electric macerating TMC. Roomy, Open plan with intuitive handholds throughout. Unique features also include hanging plank seats for Internal dodger steering station, aft and central cockpits self draining, armoured glass and 20mm Perspex with several opening portholes and hatches, to avoid condensation in cold OR hot climates.
This is a durable, safe, seakindly boat that is built to last and to go anywhere, in any conditions...even the surveyor put this very claim in black and white. Enjoy! Current asking price is $120k USD. This is the kind of boat that you rarely see on the market, and would be almost impossible to build again for anything under a quarter of a million. Open to offers. MEROPS is currently being sailed and enjoyed. So we are not in a hurry to sell her. We just want the world to know that she exists, and is looking for a new custodian. Sincerely, Rachael (BunnyM)

Just for information. The Aries fitted is not oversize, it is merely one of the very early models known I think as the Aries 2, however it is exceptionally strong and heavy but provides no additonal steering power than the more current machine. Nice looking boat, out of my price reach unfortunately.

Re: Halvorsen Freya 42 in Corten Steel

Hey,

I was looking through classifieds of this forum for a steel boat to use for the Northwest Passage. Saw your boat for sale and thought i would inquire. But after doing a deeper dive into your blog, appears your vessel may or may not be on the market at this time. I sent you an email via your blog information.

Thanks,

Hi DirtDobber, it is available. We just took it off the market for a while due to Covid.
