For Sale: How best to sell a boat?

Silly question, I know. Had a look at websites etc, then bombarded with broker questions and fees. Is there a down to earth approach?

You're starting with a great boat imo !! Clean it, clean it and clean it again. Get it looking as sweet as possible. I know nothing about the operation of the Euro market so will leave that advice to others ... but imo a clean uncluttered boat is a universal first step. Best of luck with the sale.

Semi-silly answer: It's all about price. Above about $50,000 U.S. it may pay to use a broker, certainly above $100,000. Below $25,000 you're probably just as well listing it on every free site you can find and be prepared to deal with spam and lookers. In between, you probably want to stick to sailing forums and sailboatlistings.com and that ilk...more serious boat-focussed sites. Best advice I can give is to price realistically--what would you pay if you didn't know the boat--and don't be proud. Not everyone sees your baby the way you do. Old is often old, not classic.

Both have an owner advertising facility.
Take some nice pics of exterior and interior and make a list of equipment and extras that go with the boat.
Condition of sails, engine make and hours, post ad then wait for the emails.. Send the brokers looking to list her to the Spam box..
