Interested in Taswell 49

I have been researching for a possible purchase of a Hylas 44 /Taswell 43 or Hylas 47/Taswell 49 (noting that they are completely different boats/models but I keep gravitating back to these two brands) for the last year or so.

There is a '91 Taswell 49 on Yachtworld that is intriguing. Been listed for awhile and the write-up and pictures look good but the price keeps dropping and it remains unsold.

Anyone have any insight into this particular boat?

Thank you

I have seen that Taswell as well. The Landry machine eating the couch is an odd choice. Makes one think what else. [emoji848]

Agree thought that was odd. Also didn't see a ton of good storage for long term cruising on the boat. All depends on how you plan to use your boat.

Our aft cabin was a similar wide open look, but not too much storage. We added some to make it more usable for storage.

Only other thought is the low hrs (700) on a '91 motor. Seems too low and may need some work due to lack of use.

I know of a Valiant 40 for sale that had the setee replaced with two Lay-z-boy style chairs

I buddy boated RTW with a Taswell 49 based in Adelaide. Nice sailing boat, with plenty of storage.

Thanks everyone. Interesting... not a whole lot of negative comments on this boat or model (other than the very low hour concern). I note it keeps dropping in price. Might be time to book a flight to Florida to take a look!

We have hull #21. Did you look at it? We also have fiberglass decks, which is preferable to me at least.

Hi Ericson38.

Is this the 1994 Taswell that was for sale in Sausalito? If so, we liaised with the broker and were planning on coming down last week to review but the listing expired on the 24th. He advised that we would have to submit an offer to extend the listing to review. Not our preference without looking first.

This was a very impressive looking boat on Yachtworld if this is the one.

Cheers
Mark

Yeah, I think he meant you would need to submit an offer so he could extend his listing and be willing to show.

Just because it didn’t sell during that broker’s listing contract, doesn’t mean the owner no longer wants to sell. I expect it will pop up again somewhere soon.

Now that is absolute heresy.
I can see having a small separate cabin with a couple of Lay-z-boys and a big screen on an 85' Alden schooner.
On a Valiant 40?
