Want To Buy: Lift keel trailer sailer

Hi,

I'm currently looking for a small trailer sailer with a lift keel capable of coastal cruising. Max weight with trailer would be around 1100-1200 kg. Now comes the hardest part: maximum budget = 3500 euro's (can be extended if the boat is in good condition). I recently saw a Hunter Europa with lift keel and trailer for 2000 euro's, unfortunately she's already off the market.

A Hunter Europa 19 with lift keel is ideal, a Hunter Medina or a comparable boat (such as a Swift 18, Hunter Medina,...)

I live in Belgium but my search region extends to the UK, Germany, The Netherlands & France.

I had a 1983 Hunter 20 for a few years. In the water everything was lovely. Driving down the road on the trailer everything was lovely.

Stepping the mast was a pain the ass. Either I was doing something wrong or it wasn't designed well. We got to where the two of us could do it in about 30 minutes from putting the Jeep in park, to backing down the ramp, but it was never easy.

The keel lift cable broke twice. Repairing it each time was nearly an all day chore. Check out the google search results for that one.

I have no experience with the specific boats you're looking at.

Thanks for the tip! Looks like a nice boat indeed, unfortunately there aren't many of these boats for sale in Europe & they are a bit out of my price range.

If you can get your hands on one, the O'Day 195 19 footer is a nice trailer sailor; we had one for years and it traveled easily, had a swing keel, and sailed beautifully. O'Day stopped making them in 1989, but they were well made and are an inexpensive option. Good luck in your search...there's something out there for you!

West Wight Potter 19. Sleeps 4 really good friends, porta pottie, stove, floatation unsinkable, very easy to sail, handles high winds and difficult conditions easily. May not be available in Europe.

Thanks for the replies. The American boats look like nice trailer sailers but they are hard to find in Europe.

I'll definitely look into that Fabola 600, they look like an ideal boat (not too heavy either)!
