Re: Liveaboard sailing vessel

The previous owner of my Bristol 24 lived on it with his wife for 5 months before selling it to me: it has standing headroom, galley and (portable) head; as you would expect it's not in tip-top Bristol condition but still gives me pleasure (or did in November) on day sails on the Severn; OK, Alice, it's yours for $500, but no-one else. The sail to Florida would teach you everything you need to know. I might take a month off work and deliver it.

cpisz,
So now cruising is only available to wealthy and experienced sailors? I started sailing in Mi. and Fl. In the 70's and met some of the most unique people living aboard. You must have got your experience somewhere?

Re: Liveaboard sailing vessel

Captivacapt, getting the boat is often the cheapest part of the deal. I spend $10,000 Australian a year on marina, insurance, maintenance and a bit of upgrading on our 32 foot yacht. I could half my costs by avoiding the marina but then we would use our yacht way less.
Cheers

Re: Liveaboard sailing vessel

I'm actually looking for a piece of property that I can purchase somewhere that has a body of water where I'd be able to access a major waterway. This way . .... I can dock my sailboat at my own dock. ...

Yep, Free boats have a way of becoming the most expensive before you'll ever actually set sail.
