Nicholson 32 - 1969

Waratah Lass is a Nicholson 32 built by Rudders yachts in Pittwater in 1969. She is a true classic!
In 2013 I bought s/v "Waratah Lass" on Sydney Harbour, where she had spent most of her life set up as a coastal cruising yacht.
Since, she has undergone an extensive refit, no expense spared, with upwards of $70,000 being spent on upgrading all of her essential systems. She is now set up as a truly capable offshore cruiser. She recently completed an epic voyage throughout the Western Pacific, visiting Lord Howe Island, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Guam, Palau, the Northern territory and the Great Barrier Reef. This year (2019), she has again ventured into the Tasman sea to Middleton reef and Lord Howe island, returning to Northern NSW, where she is currently moored. She has proven herself to be an exceptionally seakindly vessel throughout many gales at sea. Much of her recent extensive voyaging has been done singlehanded which is testament to her ease of handling, although she is set up to be a comfortable long term home for two with the ability to sleep up to four.

Waratah Lass is an Australian registered ship

in the 1990's Waratah lass had a full epoxy treatment of the hull and was faired under the waterline but some of the fairing compound had begun to delaminate so in 2016, the hull was proffesionally soda blasted and sprayed with multiple coats of high build epoxy before being primed and antifouled. This means that the hull will essentially never have any problems with osmotic blisters, nor is there a build up of decades of old antifouling coats. Last antifouled in July, 2018, her bottom is fresh, smooth and as slippery as can be.

In 2015 in Opua, New Zealand her entire teak toe rail was professionally replaced, her decks repainted with white two part polyeurethane and non slip in Kiwigrip.

She features Australian rosewood and teak cabinetry throughout, with a teak and holy cabin sole and Iroko benchtops.

After sailing over 15,000 miles in Waratah Lass i can say without a doubt that she is one of the best 32 foot yachts you could possibly hope to go to sea in.
All major work and upgrades have been completed and she is ready to take new owners anywhere in the world. It is with a very heavy heart, that I offer up my much loved yacht for sale but my circumstances have changed and I would like to see her go to an owner who will get as much joy out of owning her as i have in the past six years.

CAN ARRANGE AFFORDABLE DELIVERY ANYWHERE IN AUSTRALIA!
