Ohlson 38 Cutter/Sloop

Ohlson 38 For Sale – $85,000 - Currently stored inside Lincolnville Maine

This boat does well whatever you want a sailboat to do. Spend the day sailing around with the family, race around the cans, or sail across the ocean, we have done them all aboard Iroquois. The problem is that we live 3 hours by car from the nearest Great Lake and 18 hours from the nearest ocean so that we are just not using the boat enough to justify keeping someone else from doing what this boat does best, GO SAILING.

The boat, as any Ohlson owner knows, sails. I cannot say how many times we have been the only boat on the water, not I hope because we are more foolish or braver than the next person, but with proper sail trim and selection (this is where the inner forestay shines) the boat and crew are just as happy at 25-30 knots as they are at 12. We have sailed all day at 5 knots and unfortunately half the night at more than 65.

I can honestly say the price is fair, the boat is great, and it has been both upgraded and maintained during the ten years that we have owned it. I think we have bought it twice.

Below is a partial list of upgrades over the last seven years

Major refit 2013 - Replaced engine, motor mounts, engine blocks, transmission, PSS haft seals for rudder and shaft, Rebuilt Edson steering system, Fuel tank cleaned and lined with epoxy, replaced fuel lines, added fuel gauge, Installed new engine wet exhaust system, Replaced all seacocks, Water tanks cleaned and coated with Ceram-Kote , All deck hardware removed and rebedded

2014 - Corn-blasted bottom , recoated with seven layers of Interlux Interprotect 2000E, Added Jordan series drogue and stern chainplates, Added Monitor self steering

2015 - Replaced standing and running rigging, Added removable inner forestay, Replaced hydraulic backstay adjuster, Rebuilt Harken furler, Replaced mainsail, genoa, Added staysail

2016 - Added additional new smaller staysail and new inner tracks

2017 - Replaced fixed ports

2018 - Revarnished interior

2019 - Chainplates replaced with silicon bronze 2020 -Reinforced and replaced cockpit sole, Repainted decks, Serviced PSS Shaft seal, Added Sigma Drive, New foot pump in galley

Regular maintenance of all systems including annual varnishing of exterior and service of winches is done every year or as required by recommended service hours.
