Rainy Sunday? Help me find a boat!

Its raining outside, and I'm looking for a boat. I thought I'd recruit the community here to help me

So I am looking for something under $25k, well outfitted, 29-35 feet in length. Something easy to sail short-handed, and not a slug speed-wise...

Ultimately, I'd like to take her to the Caribbean, but will probably spend a couple of years lake sailing before that.

I have been looking in the New England area, I am based out of Lake Champlain. I'm familiar with boat delivery, done a few myself up and down the coast, but don't have a ton of time right now to bring a boat back from too far away.

I'll start the ball rolling:
1985 Hinterhoeller Niagara 31, US$ 17,900, Pultneyville, NY

There are people called brokers who will gladly assist you. The free advice you get here is worth what you pay for it.

There is a thread here by steadman ulrich titled noteworthy finds for under 30,000. You may find some help there.

The boat appears to be well cared for and in good condition.
Not familiar with this model maybe owners could give you more insight.
Check to see if there is an owners forum.
Make an offer that you are comfortable with. Good luck

Classified, all over the internet. Craigslist, EBay, even Cruisers Forum has one.

Re: Rainy Sunday? Help me find a boat!

Since you are looking in the new england area would check out late 1970's - early 1980's tartan 33 or sabre 34, they will be in your price range...requiring various amounts of sweat equity. Would create a spreadsheet to document boats you are interested in, their respective equipment, date listed, date sold, asking $. And now that its spring here in new england, would begin crawling in/through/around as many boats as your job, wife/sig other, time, family will allow. I would always use, "taking the dog for a walk"....4 hours later...enjoy the hunt...

My 35 Morgan is for sale and will deliver in spring. See Yachting World 1970 Morgan 35, $16,900.

Buy the magazine called Good Old Boat. Their are ads for boats for sale in your price range. I have a 1980 Mariner 36, great boat if you can find one. Good Luck
