Surf Shoe Kayak

An original Surf Shoe kayak by Dick Held! It's been in my garage for years. It is really fun and I always think I'm going to take it back out soon, but never get around to it. It's long, 9 and a half feet I think. It will surf even small swells and with some practice its a blast on bigger ones. No skeg, so rudder with the big ol' Iliad paddle (included). Got some float bags for it too I think. Super easy to roll too. When you lean back it almost wants to roll itself back up. Free to a good surf loving home. I have to clean out the garage. I can deliver it to Oxnard, Ventura and Santa Barbara, otherwise come and get it in Chatsworth, CA. I have an old spray skirt for it, but better to buy a new one. They are worn backwards in this design since you are so far forward.

That looks like a white water boat! Are we going to argue about its white water capabilities, cause I'm in if we are!

My surfing son and grandson in Carpinteria may be interested. They are both surfers. I have sent them an email with a link to your post.

Nah, its a surf play boat! A friend has a couple (not same make model) which are much shorter and super responsive in the surf. Great for learning to roll.

Don,

My son would take it but has no place to keep a 9' kayak. He is an apartment dweller.

Best of luck on finder her a good home,

Paul

Re: Surf Shoe Kayak

Thanks all, yeah it's no river boat, strictly for surfing, that hard chine catches every current in the river if you try. But then if you're really quick you might catch some good waves in Lava Falls.
The thing is so fast, it's like riding a long board. On a steep wave it will bury itself at the bottom until you get the hang of ruddering it!
