Dennis,
We think we have the perfect answer to your situation. We are now living on our 2nd Cabo Rico 38. Full Keel, Cutter Rig, 5 1/2' draft & 51' Mast Height. She's very steady in blue water, points to windward well, is shallow enough to do the waters of the Bahamas & the mast height allows ICW travel. They are easy to single hand. They have a nice aft deck that allows room for fishing/grilling and a lot of storage below. If there has been any real problem with the Cabo Ricos it has been the teak decks leaking. Some were built with no teak on the decks and some have had it removed. Cabo Rico has a reputation for craftsmanship in the woodwork above and below deck. She is an "Eye Catcher" wherever you go!

Re: Wanted - 40'(approx) Blue-water live-aboard

Kahana is a full keel cutter rigged custom Benford....she definitely goes to weather. So the statement that full keel boats don't go to weather is not accurate.

IMHO one of the most beautiful production boats ever made. Now, if I could just get one as a schooner...

Re: Wanted - 40'(approx) Blue-water live-aboard

Folks, I think if you read post 52 you will see he has bought a modern fin keeled French Amel Maramu 46. Perhaps speed and handling were his preferences rather than the more dated long keeled type of yacht.
