Another rescue off Westrern australia

A relatively happy ending of an offshore grounding.

Good rescue of the crew and for taking the boat in tow. Good thing they have crash compartments!

Not sure why they would have been so close to shore in those kind of conditions - staying outside the 100m line is prudent at night and restricted visibility due to all the little islands and rocks along that shoreline.

I agree with above.
I am local here, and during night or adverse condition I stay about 15-20 Nm offshore, In good conditions.... see blue line that I will not traverse to the north of it. The shore can not be reached easily by boat from Augusta to Albany, about 200 NM. Swell can be 2 to 10 metres in these areas and yesterday a small front was coming through, swell was then around 4 metres, today it is 3 metres. But they hit the rocks about 12-15 hours before the front came through. Maybe too much in a hurry to beat that front to reach Albany prior to that? I know it is tempting, as traveling ahead of the front just gives perfect strong winds from the right direction to make a fast passage (west to east).
Here is a screenshot of the location.

Good to see all crew were safe, but looking at one of the photos, all three crew on deck of the cat with damaged bows and no lifejacket worn.

Hi Ann, no, I have not met the owners, they are not from here.
Boat has been lifted out of the water, for repair/insurance assessment.
