For those of us that don't do FB.

Quote:
Two people were rescued by the Coast Guard on Tuesday

They rescued them from a disabled sailboat Tuesday approximately 218 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.

Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received notification at around 8 a.m. Monday from a good Samaritan that the 46-foot sailing vessel Big Adventure participating in the Salty Dawg Caribbean Rally from Hampton, Virginia to Antigua, had struck an object causing rudder failure.

Officials were then able to establish communications with the vessel via email.

Crews responded to the scene where they embarked the two mariners and towed the vessel to Chesapeake Bay where it was transferred to a commercial towboat.

Not sure how they could damage the rudder after hitting something w/nearly a full/long keel. https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/oceanic-46-brewer

Bad luck and came down on top of something in a wave? Or slid under the keel and popped up in that cutaway.

Wow, that is a long tow by the U.S.C.G. - 218 miles. That must have been fun.

Why is the title of the thread “another”? I have been wondering about the impact of TS Nicole and saw some interesting tracks from the earlier rally participants. Can someone link me to a thread if it exists ?

Thanks! I haven’t found any discussions about the impact of TS Nicole but looks like boats scattered quite a bit and many turned back early in Nov
