Charles Gregory, 25, was last seen leaving the Lighthouse Boat Ramp on a 12-foot jon boat Thursday night, according to the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast. The Coast Guard started the search for him late Friday evening after being notified by his family.

Let's split the difference: A day, and half.

I wonder if it had some buoyancy foam or something, I don't see how it stayed afloat otherwise. Although from the pics, calling it "afloat" is pretty generous.

Small boats like that are required to have buoyancy (typically foam) built in. As long as it's still intact you can swamp the boat, but it shouldn't outright sink.

We used to play on partially sunken small boats as kids.

We'd find a boat down in the water but still bobbing around near the surface.

So we would get on and as we did it would roll in that direction so then we would climb up as it rolled and in this way it would propel us through the water.

It was great fun as a kid and when we were through the boat would still be bobbing around near the surface

It looks like he didn't have his required bailer - wonder if the coasties gave him a ticket?

Yup, my old john boat had foam under the seats. I grew up on a lake in Florida and we used to partially sink it all the time.
