Re: sxm/anguilla rescue and evacuation information

some happy news for american evacuee's who left in style !

https://www.thedailyherald.sx/island...WLPyA.facebook

The ship did not bring cruise passengers to the country. It brought in humanitarian aid and will leave the local waters with United States citizens bound for home.
Adventure of the Seas is one of four Royal Caribbean Cruises expected to called at ports, including St. Maarten, that have been ravaged by monster Hurricane Irma. RCCL is a long-time partner of St. Maarten.
RCCL has dispatched ships to St. Thomas and St. Maarten and stand ready to assist Key West, Tampa and other locations.
Majesty of the Seas will make humanitarian calls in St. Thomas and St. Maarten to provide supplies and also assist in transporting evacuees in St. Maarten to safety.
Empress of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas ready to assist Key West and Tampa once the impact of the storm is known.

St Martin reportedly on verge of 'civil war' after Irma | Loop News
I do have a friend stranded on the french side. They are desperate. He said "we need help". They can't go over to the dutch side on fear of their safety. I reported on the Dept of State site, both their names and passport numbers, with DOBs and their exact location (as in hotel name and address). But I really think you can see the difference between a local organised government (the dutch side) and a disorganized settlement (french side) operating mainly out of the prefecture of guadaloupe.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get help to these US citizens on the French side, maybe pressure some government officials. I know they would appreciate any input.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/261057677735768/

unfortunatly as us citizens they could have been evacuated by plane yesterday and by ship today,American citizens need to register
IrmaEmergencyusc@state.gov and non residents with sxmflights@gmail.com

they have no idea how many of you are on island.
there will be military flights out on monday

best advice is to keep listening on lazer radio Laser 101.1 FM | The Station with the Attitude
for up dates and cross to juliana next time there is a call for us citizens getting evaced

otherwise the prefecture is talking another few days at least befor grand case airport is running for any thing apart from military as control tower was blown away.

sxm government site is here sugest they moniter should be running good on monday now they have power and phone lines working there

Re: sxm/anguilla rescue and evacuation information

from government of St Maarten,Nederlands Antillies

Thank you for this information. Following is the information for relief flights. If the ships officials could follow similar procedure and email the three addresses below it would be appreciated. We do not know how many British Citizens are on the island exactly but we have received requested If the British Gov. could send a flight it would be appreciated.

Space permitting would they be willing to take any other European citizens? We still have a number of German and Scandinavia tourists we believe.

To request to come into St Maarten you must send a formal email request.
Please send email to the following three addresses:

czmcarib.sod@mindef.nl

melyza29@gmail.com

rolandobrison@hotmail.com minister of tourism,st maarten

Items to consider:
- charters are welcome

- must fly in before 6.20pm

- no fuel available on St Maarten, must have enough to get in and out

Information to provide via email:

State in email intention of flight: suppliers into the country / excavate people out of the country

Aircraft Tail #

Airline or aircraft owner

Names and nationalities of all people coming in on the aircraft

What supplies you are bringing in with you including estimate on amount

Names / nationalities and DOB of any passengers you are evacuating

CANADIANS:
Official message from Global Affairs I've been asked to share:

At this time, other airlines may be operating flights to Sint Maartin tomorrow.
While we are also disseminating this information via sms/email, if you continue to be in contact with this group of Canadians, please share the foregoing with them to best ensure they are aware of this information.

Re: sxm/anguilla rescue and evacuation information

Most users ever online was 3,688, 08-09-2017 at 17:06.

well done cruisers forum, this just goes to show how usefull social media is in a disaster, and interesting to see how terrestial internet links ie cable survived, when everything else failed, power, desalinator plant, cellphones, all the local radio stations lost their antennas,no power except for those with gensets,so government had to rely on a tiny portal using facebook and internet to get any messages out and communicate with the people of sxm and the world!

plus 95% destruction of infastructure on the island.

local radio Laser 101.1 FM | The Station with the Attitude is now being transmitted and rebroadcast from ARUBA on 800 AM frequency

government stiil not able to use there offices, computers etc
but basic services are being restored slowly.

still 24hr curfew, but cleanup and evacuation of tourists and sick, pregnant etc going well now the air field has been cleared for military and aid flights.

ferrys were being relaunched at bobbys marina, which service the outer island,so soon they should have some respite as well!

thanks to the mods for contacting uk coastguard safetyNET and keeping the thread clear for visitors

laters

Re: sxm/anguilla rescue and evacuation information

The helpful information you are putting up here is truly amazing - fair play to you. I was airlifted ( American passport ) from St. Maarten to Puerto Rico by US Air Force on Saturday just before Jose arrived. Kind of Intense.

My question - They loaded our luggage onto cargo trollys just before we got on the plane. I'm trying to find out where it went. There are a number of us here in PR trying to get an answer.
Would you have any info on this?
Thanks
( I understand that time & resources are concentrating on helping people at the moment, not luggage )
