Lake Erie - Presque Isle Anchorages

Hey can anyone recommend any good all weather anchorages in Presque Isle in Lake Erie. We will be jumping off from there on the 15th but want some time to shake the boat down, we are looking for a base camp.

The marina on Presque Isle is as good as it gets. Good holding, great wind and wave protection. Lots of room to anchor but is somewhat busy on weekends. There downside is that you are half way out the state park meaning that if you don't have transportation, getting into town can be difficult. Don't anchor too close to shore unless you like bugs.

What do you mean Marina? A marina is where there are slips and fees. Am I missing something?

It's designated as a "marina" (State Marina Park on the NOAA charts) but in reality it is a large anchorage (2400 ft x 1800 ft) that has docks with a fuel dock on one shore. Average water depth is 10 to 12 feet over most of the area as it is a man made basin.
