Meeting crewmembers in Pacific

As part of our planned cruise to start next fall, we hope to have family members meet us to spend the school vacation with us on the boat. I'm thinking we would pick them up in Samoa and cruise via Tonga to Fiji. Then, they could fly back to Samoa and home. I know this will be complicated and expensive, but does anyone have experience with this kind of operation and suggestions for planning and minimizing cost and hassle. Are there better places to start and finish, in logistical terms?
