Seattle Area Sailing?

I have 4 days off in a couple of weeks and was thinking of chartering or hiring a sailboat to sail around the Seattle area. Are there any places to visit here? Google searching is not making sense yet -- likely cause I am not from this area. Anyways, wanted to get one sail in before I leave and I was thinking to do here instead of going back to San Diego.

Thanks

Michael

The San Juans offer excellent sailing, and there is a wide variety of boats to choose from out of Bellingham and Anacortes. Approximately 1.5 hours north of Seattle. If you want some companies I trust, PM me.

Nice time to sail in the Seattle area, cool with enough wind to sail. Anywhere from Olympia to Canada with lots of small harbors and bays, lots of small towns for the sailor, try Gig Harbor, Wa just across the Narrows Bridge from Tacoma. I am sure you have been there by car if you are at FT Lewis. YOU WILL ENJOY.

I don't know about Seattle but Portland , Ore is experiencing its first week in the 70's since last September. Two weeks ago we enjoyed three consecitive days where the Sun was out for over 50% of the day in 229 days.

And to think, three years ago I was still sailing in the Caribbean.

Re: Seattle Area Sailing?

If you choose to charter out of Seattle ...
Blake Island is a nice.
In addition to Gig Harbor Poulsbo is great
The marinas in Port Orchard and Bremerton offer a lot of guest moorage
Bainbridge Island has a couple of nice anchorages but getting into Winslow can be problamatic as most of the docks are private.
4 days could get you to Langly, Port Ludlow, Port Townsend, and a host of other anchorages. This is a great area just wish the weather was like last weekend.

Re: Seattle Area Sailing?

There are several charter co. at Bellingham north of Seattle and just about 10 miles from the San Juan Islands. They have some catamarans like ours a Gemini 105Mc and several monohulls to choose from. Last summer every harbor anchorage had rental boats crowding in on folks and draging there anchors.
