Seeking Anchorage Near Miami Beach

Obviously I don't want to get spotligted, bombarded with music or boarded by the police, but I have some guests that will be flying out of MIA and we want to visit the beach at Miami Beach then take Waltzing Matilda up the Miami Canal to get them on the plane.

Can anyone recommend a place to overnight that near Miami Beach ? Has anyone taken the Canal as close as possible to the airport that has any information about the area to share?

Re: Please recommend an anchorage near Miami Beach

The area between Watson Island and South Beach has lots of anchoring possibilities. ActiveCaptain shows them very well. My favorite is SW of Belle Island.

The Miami Canal goes way up near the airport, but I would just take a cab from S Beach.

The ride up the Miami River is fun. If you come durring my normal business hours, you can drop them at my dock and I'll run them over to the airport. We're less than 5 minutes from the airport on the Miami Canal. Give me a call ahead of time.

Thanks for the info, the funny thing is I've been waiting for activation from ActiveCaptian for about 9 months now... needless to say I don't use their services.

It's my passengers decision whether to take the boat up the canal or take a cab, I hope they want to take the boat, industrial ports are cool.

There's lots of places to anchor in Miami and you don't get hassled. I like to anchor off Belle Isle near the Collins Canal, just a short dink ride to South Beach. Take the dink up the Collins Canal and lock it to the wall or a tree.

Re: Seeking Anchorage Near Miami Beach

Waltzing Matilda just left three pretty girls on my dock.
Thanks Nathan!
